Military Friendly '23-'24 Silver School AwardBenedictine University is pleased to provide veterans the opportunity to start or continue their education. Our campus offers many opportunities for veterans, and we are happy to assist those who have served our country.

Upon receiving a confirmation of your veteran’s benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs, we’d love to give you a tour of our campus. You can speak with our military advocates, who can help you navigate your journey back into academic and civilian life.

Our admissions counselors and advisors will work with you to figure out what Benedictine degree will best help you achieve the goals you set for the next journey in your life.

If you have military credit, you can use the Joint Services Transcript portal. All branches (with the exception of Air Force as transcripts are issued via Community College of the Air Force) can use this service.

About GI Bill BenefitsThis program can help you pay for higher out-of-state, private school, or graduate school tuition that the Post-9/11 GI Bill doesn’t cover. Benedictine University participates at the maximum 50% level contribution to eligible individuals who apply for the Yellow Ribbon Program on a first-come, first-served basis.

Veteran & Active Duty Educational Benefits

Each student must apply for benefits directly with the VA. Once Benedictine receives official approval of the student’s eligibility to participate in an educational program, the student is responsible for requesting certification from the Office of Financial Aid every term.

The Office of Financial Aid is then responsible for certifying current school enrollment and requesting payment based on the student’s number of enrolled hours.

NOTE: Enrollment certifications are submitted to the VA within 30 days from the first day of classes.

Undergraduate veterans are welcome to live on campus at any age!

On-campus living provides an opportunity for veterans to combine academic life with social development. Veterans must establish and test their values, develop social skills, determine priorities, and learn to organize their time. Daily living with others encourages the development of a cooperative attitude, respect for individual rights, and a sense of group responsibility.

As a result, on-campus living develops diverse communities that meet the needs of its members both individually and collectively and create attitudes and skills necessary to progress toward the realization of those conditions which make up a healthy community.

University Housing & Residence Life has many housing options available to veterans, including apartment and traditional residence hall options. There are four-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom apartments and one-bedroom apartments on campus. In the residence halls, you can have a roommate or request to have a single room. Please know, we do not have cohabitation or family housing options available.

Join the BenU Veterans of the Armed Forces Club and meet students with similar interests and experiences here on campus.

As a BenU student or alumni, you can join the Benedictine University Network where you can connect with fellow students, alumni and friends as well as explore careers, build your network and get advice from those who have been there and done that! Look for the “BenU Veterans of the Armed Forces Community” once your account is approved in BenU Network group.
